How should society respond to extremist ideas and beliefs? Is there a balance to be struck between freedom and security? Is the world more insecure and unstable that it has been in the past?

The Institute of Ideas Debating Matters Competition and Research Councils UK Global Uncertainties Programme present:

Question Time on Ideologies and Beliefs

How should society respond to extremist ideas and beliefs? Is there a balance to be struck between freedom and security? Is the world more insecure and unstable that it has been in the past?

In the style of the BBC’s Question Time programme, leading media commentators, politicians and academics will address a range of questions related to issues such as youth radicalisation, belief and politics, terrorism and civil liberties, surveillance and privacy, as well as broader issues relating to the state of politics in the UK. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and enter the debate from the floor.
