Victorian Surgery

A demonstration of an operation without anaesthetics or antiseptics

Discover the history of the only remaining wooden operating theatre in Britain, and the types of surgery carried out in the early 19th century, when the patient's only relief from pain was the speed of the surgeon's knife! One in three patients could be expected to die from shock, blood loss, or the dreaded hospital infections. A real amputation set awaits! How will you survive...?
