A look at London anarchism and its colourful history of opposition to both the state and capitalism.
From its origins in working-class Chartism, London anarchism has a long and colourful history of opposition to both the state and capitalism. This talk will introduce some of the key ideas of anarchism, and look at the imaginative ways in which the London anarchists have challenged both the state and capitalism over two centuries.
Martyn Everett is the author of A Short History of Political Violence in England and War and Revolution: the Hungarian anarchist movement in World War I and the Budapest Commune (1919).
