As part of the RNCM's three day celebration of the music of Giya Kancheli, the composer himself discusses his music and influences.
The RNCM is delighted to welcome Giya Kancheli to Manchester for a major celebration of his music in this, his 70th birthday year. Kancheli is one of the icons of our time, and his beautiful, transcendental music provides an oasis in our busy, cluttered world. He draws inspiration from Bach and from the plainchant of his native Georgia, and this Festival features some of his most important and profound works.
Open Forum chaired by
Professor David Fanning
Giya Kancheli talks this afternoon to Professor David Fanning about his music and influences - an open conversation with a chance to put your questions direct to the composer.
